There are a number of cemeteries on West Mersea and, subject to cost and permission, they are open for burials whether you live on the Island or not. However, there is an additional charge for those who are not resident on the Island. Our silver fleet and hearses are well known in the area, but there is also wide choice of alternative hearses available on request. We have arranged funerals with a motorcycle hearse, horse drawn hearses, a Land Rover, a brewers dray with shire horses, the vehicle from Ghostbusters, a traction engine, flat bed lorries, and so many more. Simply talk to your funeral arranger and if we are able to help, we will. We offer local direct cremations. They are an alternative to traditional funeral ceremonies and can save money, but they do not allow for family and friends to attend at the time of cremation because they take place at a time most convenient to the crematorium. We recommend using your local funeral director for a direct cremation, because it keeps your loved one closer to home and ensures that they receive the same dignified individual attention from which all our clients benefit. The cremated remains of your loved one will be returned to the branch for collection, or scattered or interred, according to your instructions. All direct cremations are carried out with the same, compassion and professionalism as every funeral we arrange.
